Becoming myself, one season at a time

Travel with me

I’ve never lived a life that followed a straight line. My story has been shaped by unexpected turns, long seasons of waiting, and moments of grace that carried me when my own strength ran out.

When I was twelve, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that would quietly shape the next decades of my life. It taught me early how to persevere, how to listen to my body, and how to trust God when the path ahead felt uncertain. Those years formed a resilience in me that I didn’t fully understand until much later.

As I stepped into adulthood, I found myself walking another difficult road: infertility. It was a season marked by longing, prayer, and the kind of waiting that stretches a person in deep and unseen ways. But it was also a season where God surprised us with beauty. Through adoption, we welcomed two incredible children into our family — gifts we had prayed for, hoped for, and now can’t imagine life without. That journey reshaped my understanding of motherhood, surrender, and the way God writes stories far better than we ever could.

During those same years, I was also navigating life as a medical school wife, and later, a residency wife. Those chapters were full of long nights, unpredictable schedules, and the quiet work of holding things together while the person you love is being stretched to their limits. It deepened my compassion, my independence, and my understanding of partnership.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that, my life took a turn I never expected. A trip to Africa opened my heart in a way I couldn’t ignore. What began as a simple desire to help became a calling that grew into Simone’s Kids. It’s a meaningful part of my story — but it’s not the whole story. It’s one thread in a tapestry woven from illness, faith, marriage, motherhood, leadership, and the slow, steady work of becoming.

Today, I’m a woman shaped by the hard and the holy. I’m still learning, still growing, still trusting God with each new season. My hope is that by sharing my story, you’ll find encouragement for your own — whatever winding road you’re walking.

I’m grateful you’re here.
